Reasons to Purchase Flood Insurance

Even in areas that are dry for long periods of time, there are usually large storms that flood areas, even if just for a moment. The idea that you have to live in a flood prone area or an area that is a designated flood area to be susceptible to flooding is simply false. However, many people are living with this false sense of security. Flood insurance is something that all homeowners should have so they can protect their home and their investment and there are a few reasons why.

  1. Flooding can happen anywhere. You do not need to live by a river or stream for potential flooding. Flooding can happen if a water main break occurs in your home, if the above ground pool your neighbor has gives way, or even in over or newly developed areas because the water cannot absorb into the soil with new roads everywhere.
  2. Your current homeowners insurance policy likely does not cover it. In fact, many homeowners insurance policies do not include flood insurance so do not assume you have it by having homeowners insurance. Check your policy to see what is covered by your insurance so you can know exactly what you need.
  3. Almost 20 percent of flooding occurs in areas that are considered moderate or low risk for flooding. This is just further proof that flooding can occur anywhere and not just in areas that are high risk. You need to protect yourself from flooding no matter where you live and flood insurance is the way to do that.

Road Rage: Don’t Let the Rage Take Over

When it comes to traveling, there are several tips you will need to follow to help ensure you keep yourself and any passengers as safe as possible. It’s also imperative that you follow these tips to keep other people safe who are traveling the same routes as you. In a split second, though, you know how easy it is to become enraged with a bit of road rage. And when this happens, it can be difficult to make rational choices. Still yet, here are a few tips you can follow to keep your rage at a minimum.

Know when to say you’re sorry

Hey, there is absolutely nothing wrong with making mistakes, as long as you learn from them. And even more important is that you own up to your mistakes. When traveling, you will need to own up to your mistakes that you make while driving. Whether it be accidentally pulling out in front of someone or running a STOP sign, knowing when to say you’re sorry and owning up to your mistakes is key to keeping rage at a minimum, both for yourself and other drivers.

Listen to music that you like

Do your passenger like music that you don’t? If so, this is fine, but make sure to let the person know you want to listen to music you enjoy while driving. By listening to music that you have a preference for, this will help minimize any anger or rage, which can go a long way in diffusing a situation that could otherwise turn out violent or lead to an accident.
